About Wensleydale Cheese

Wensleydale is a classic Yorkshire cheese with a moist, crumbly texture and a fresh, milky, slightly honeyed flavour. It was originally made by Cistercian monks using sheep's milk. Today's version uses cow's milk and is most famously known as Wallace's absolute favourite cheese (yes, from Wallace and Gromit). It is often sold with cranberries or blueberries mixed in.

Pairings

Pair with apple pie, fruit cake, or fresh grapes. Wallace would insist you also try it with crackers. Pairs well with cider or a light ale.

Fun fact: Wallace and Gromit are credited with saving Wensleydale Creamery from closure in the 1990s after featuring the cheese in their films.
