About Swiss Cheese

Swiss cheese is famous for its smooth texture, mild nutty flavor, and iconic holes known as “eyes.” It’s made from cow’s milk and carefully aged to develop a balanced, slightly sweet taste. The holes are formed during fermentation when bacteria release carbon dioxide, creating air pockets in the cheese.

Pairings

Swiss cheese pairs wonderfully with ham, turkey, and crusty bread. It’s also great in sandwiches, quiches, and fondues. For drinks, try it with white wine like Riesling or a light beer.

Funfact:The holes in Swiss cheese were once considered a defect! Cheesemakers later discovered they’re caused by harmless bacteria, which actually give Swiss cheese its signature flavor and look. Browse All Cheeses →
