About Le Gruyère AOP Cheese

Le Gruyère AOP is a traditional Swiss cheese known for its rich, nutty, and slightly sweet flavor that deepens as it ages. It has a dense, smooth texture with tiny holes and melts beautifully, making it a key ingredient in fondue and French onion soup. The cheese is made using raw cow’s milk and matured in cellars to develop its signature taste and aroma.

Pairings

Le Gruyère pairs wonderfully with crusty bread, ham, or fruit like apples and grapes. It’s excellent for melting on sandwiches or gratins and pairs nicely with white wines such as Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc.

Fun fact: Le Gruyère has been made since the 12th century and holds AOP (Appellation d’Origine Protégée) status, meaning only cheese produced in specific regions of Switzerland under strict traditional methods can carry the name “Le Gruyère.”
