About Kasseri Cheese
Kasseri is a traditional Greek cheese with a smooth, stretchy texture and a mild, buttery flavor that becomes tangier as it ages. Made mainly from sheep’s milk, it’s similar in texture to mozzarella but with a richer, slightly salty taste. Kasseri is a key ingredient in many Greek dishes and is often enjoyed melted or grilled.
Pairings
Kasseri pairs beautifully with olives, tomatoes, pita bread, and honey. It’s excellent in sandwiches, omelets, or as part of the Greek dish saganaki (pan-fried cheese). For drinks, it goes well with crisp white wines or light reds.
Funfact: Kasseri has been made in Greece for over a thousand years and is protected by PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) status, meaning it can only be made in specific regions of Greece using traditional methods. Browse All Cheeses →
