About Halloumi Cheese
Halloumi is a traditional Cypriot cheese known for its unique ability to hold its shape when grilled or fried. It has a chewy, squeaky texture and a mild, salty flavor that becomes creamier and richer when cooked. Because of its high melting point, it’s perfect for grilling, pan-frying, or even barbecuing.
Pairings
Halloumi pairs beautifully with watermelon, tomatoes, mint, and olive oil. It’s also great in salads, sandwiches, or as a side dish with roasted vegetables. For drinks, try it with a crisp white wine or a light lager.
Funfact:Halloumi’s nickname is the “cheese that grills” because it doesn’t melt when heated. Traditionally, it was made without refrigeration and stored in brine, which gave it its signature salty flavor and long shelf life. Browse All Cheeses →
