About Epoisses Cheese

Epoisses is a powerful washed-rind cheese from Burgundy, France. Its sticky orange rind is washed repeatedly with Marc de Bourgogne brandy, giving it an intensely pungent aroma, yet the interior is surprisingly creamy, rich, and mild. Napoleon Bonaparte was reportedly a huge fan.

Pairings

Pair with crusty baguette and a glass of Burgundy or Sauternes. The wine sweetness perfectly balances the boldness. Not for the faint of heart!

Fun fact: Epoisses is so pungent that it is reportedly banned from public transport in France!
