About Cheddar

Cheddar is one of the most popular and widely produced cheeses in the world. It originated in the English village of Cheddar during the 12th century. Cheddar’s flavor and texture evolve with age — young cheddar is mild and creamy, while aged cheddar becomes sharp, crumbly, and full of character.

Traditional farmhouse cheddar is still made in Somerset using time-honored techniques, including “cheddaring,” a process where curds are stacked and turned to remove moisture and create its signature texture.

Pairings

Cheddar pairs perfectly with apples, crusty bread, and pickles. Enjoy it with a glass of cider, stout, or Cabernet Sauvignon for the best flavor match.

Fun fact: Only cheese made in Somerset, Devon, Dorset, and Cornwall can be called “West Country Farmhouse Cheddar.”
